    Abstract
Humanbeingsin communicationwiththesurroundingenvironmentin numerous ways. They perceive the environmental conditions and act, react,or adjust accordingly. If the environment can be made to reciprocate this behavior and respond to human behavior, it will lead to several advantages. Such behavior can automate various tasks that humans have to perform manually and also provide innovativeservices and facilitiesusing the smart home as a homelike environment that possesses ambient intelligence and automatic control, which allow it to respond to the behavior of residents and provide them with various facilities.InafutureInternetofThings, interconnectedsystemsallowintelligentmonitoringandcontrolof smarthouses. For example, energy-saving applicationscontrol indoor climate and electricity usage by employing context information to switch off appliances (e.g., lights, computers), reduce room temperature, close windows or stop warm water circulation. The primarypurpose ofthis dissertation is to build a basic phone application for home automation using different application program interface for actuation and data acquisition via HTTP communication protocol. To interact with an actuator, after sensing the environmental temperature, humidity...etc. In the first chapter the work presentsstate of the artfor IoT. In the secondwe have looked into the home automationinsight. In thethird the design and development work will be presented, considering threeprojects (Ju-Jami, European Research programFP7 –SINFONIA, and H2020 HEART). Chapter four will look into the outlook of future development of the smart house application
