A building's energy consumption depends on the features of its envelope. In this research, comparative analyses were conducted to select the best insulation material for a residential building made of shipping containers. This building is called the JuaHouse, devoted to international competition named solar decathlon Africa. The analyses are based on literature review results from which three best materials were selected depending on specific criterions. Afterwards, based on Design Builder Software, different building thermal simulations had been generated for each insulation material in different thicknesses. Finally, economic analysis were carried out by analysing the investments costs, projected annual energy cost savings and paybacken_US
